McKeeva is a proud champion of working men and women. Mr. Bush was born in West Bay in 1955 and educated in the Government Primary and Secondary Modern Schools. He was also awarded an honourary master’s degree in the humanities from ICCI, and has always been involved with community, youth and church work. The Queen named him an Officer of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 1997 for his work in the community and successes in government. He was also awarded the Order of Merit by CIFA and given the “community award” by the West Bay Seventh Day Adventist Church for outstanding community service. He was named a Baden-Powell Fellow for his contributions and involvement to scouting.
McKeeva is highly-respected on the international stage. As a strong advocate for the Cayman Islands on major international issues affecting our tourism and financial services industries, Mr. Bush helped in the creation of the Monetary Authority, the preparation of the Mutual Funds Law, the PCCL Legislation, and assisted in the preparation of other financial legislation. He set up the Cayman Islands Investment Bureau to bring investment in the county and set up satellite offices in other countries to drive tourism in the Cayman Islands.
McKeeva’s strong business acumen and leadership serves Cayman well. Throughout his many years of exemplary public service McKeeva has had too many accomplishments to list. A few highlights include creating a government guaranteed student loan program, passing the national pensions law to enable seniors to be secure in their retirement, and passing labour benefits legislation.
